Team Ford FAQ
What are the service intervals for Ford?
For Ford's 2007 and older, the service intervals is every 5,000 km. Service intervals for Fords 2008 and newer are recommended at every 8,000 km. Every Ford model has an owner’s manual giving the exact maintenance schedule for your vehicle.
Does Ford offer free maintenance?
Unfortunately, no. Free maintenance is not part of your new Ford vehicle purchase. But Ford does have seven extended service plans for new owners to choose from. The difference between the plans is how many components are covered along with the inclusion of some high-tech parts.
There are also two maintenance plans available. These can be customized by distance driven, length of time, and service frequency for non-battery electric vehicles.
How often does Ford recommend oil changes?
Changing your oil and filter is one of the most important things you can do to keep your engine in tip-top condition. Change your engine oil every 8,000 to 16,000 km. Keep in mind though that this range will depend on how you drive and in what conditions, your vehicle’s model year, whether or not you tow vehicles regularly, and if you drive in very hot weather.
Is a Ford expensive to maintain?
No, Ford's are not expensive to maintain. For example, according to the CAA's Driving Cost Calculator (caa.ca) the average maintenance cost of a Ford Edge AWD is $1335 a year. You can finance those costs over a period of time if you buy one of Ford’s extended service plans or maintenance plans.
What does service engine soon mean on my Ford vehicle cluster?
This indicates that more than a routine service is needed. Please schedule an appointment with the Team Ford team.
A factory-trained technician will inspect your vehicle and perform a diagnostic test if required. They will find out what’s triggering the light and get your vehicle repaired in no time.
Do service plans really save money?
Yes, they do. Unexpected service and maintenance can affect anyone’s budget. With Ford’s extended service plans, you feel safe and secure knowing that your vehicle is covered and backed by Ford Canada.
Roadside Assistance is included in all extended service plans. So if you need towing, a tire change, or lockout assistance, you’re covered! This helps reduce out-of-pocket expenses if anything happens to your vehicle.
Does missing a service void my warranty?
Yes, it can! As the owner of the vehicle, your responsibility to maintain your car and follow its schedule. If you don't follow the scheduled maintenance in your owner’s manual, you could void coverage on any parts damaged by a lack of maintenance.
Which is better, a service or maintenance plan?
Look at what is included in each option to decide what is best for you. Ford extended service plans are more very complete and cover parts and labour to repair major components of your vehicle. Meanwhile, Ford maintenance plans cover the costs of maintaining a vehicle, such as oil changes, wiper blades, spark plugs, etc. Ford maintenance and service plans through Ford Protect have a lot of advantages, such as:
- You avoid future price increases on parts and labour by paying today’s prices
- Finance the cost of your plan over time
- Genuine Ford parts used, always
- Ford factory-trained technicians do all services and repairs
- Increase the resale value of your vehicle.
